 晚春

春归何处？

寂寞无行路[1]。

若有人知春去处，

唤取归来同住。

春无踪迹谁知，

除非问取[2]黄鹂[3]。

百啭[4]无人能解，

因风[5]飞过蔷薇。

[1]无行路：没有可供游玩的地方，这里指春天没有留下回去的踪迹。

[2]问取：问。

[3]黄鹂：鸟名，又叫黄莺，每到春天才叫，声音婉转动听。

[4]啭：鸟鸣。

[5]因风：趁着风势。

 Late Spring

Huang Tingjian

Where has Spring gone?

No trace is left on pathway lone.

If you know where she is today,

Please call her back to stay.

Who can find traceless Spring?

Unless you ask the orioles which sing

A hundred tunes none understand.

Riding the wind, they fly past rose-grown land.

Huang Tingjian (1045—1105) was one of the followers of Su Shi. This lyric reveals his love of Spring.
