The pomp, the pageant, the profusion—all gone with the dust of the princely prodigal. Yet the grass grows green and the stream flows unruffled. Only in the gloaming, when the birds pour forth their doleful music, is Nature reminded of Beauty’s tragic end. Then the east wind sighs, and fated flowers flutter and fall.
