《寄内》

Today we part and I, think of you, as do you of me
一朝分袂两相思，
no way of knowing when we shall see each other again;
何日归来不可期。
not that we are forced to leave each other,
岂待途穷方有泪？
but still we weep because of the uncertainty
也惊时难忍无辞。
for we are born in a period when our land is weak;
生当忧患原应尔，
if I die, do not waste time in mourning for me
死得成仁未足悲。
and do not worry that I might lack food or clothing;
莫为远人憔悴尽，
your task is to bring up our child and teach him well.
阿湄犹赖汝扶持。
