When first we feasted in the bower red,
The night was deep, so cool and clear.
Beyond bamboos and lotus blooms we met again,
Again like floating cloud she flew away.
Her letter is still wet,
Perfume not dispersed yet.
I feel in vain
Sorrow in thread.
Unlike the cowherd and his sweet
Who could still meet
Once every year.

注释：
The poet describes his rendezvous with a songstress and regrets her departure. The myth says that the cowherd and the weaving maid are two lover-stars who, separated by the Silver River (the Milky Way), could meet on the seventh day of the seventh moon, once every year.
