《母亲》

When I was still a child at the breast,
我吸吮着母亲的奶头，
I never thought of moulding clay figures nor playing hide-and-seek,
还不曾想过捏泥娃娃和捉迷藏，
Nor of the sky and earth,
还不曾想过天空和陆地，
But I had a vague impression:
可是心里却有一个模糊的印象：
There is nothing in the world
“世间再也没有什么
Broader than Mother’s breast!
比母亲的胸脯还宽广！”
From the remote border region,
我从遥远遥远的边疆，
I crossed the Yangtze and Yellow rivers;
渡过了长江和黄河，
Though I haven’t been to the Changbai Mountains,
虽然我还没有走到长白山，
I whisper to myself in my heart:
但是我在心底轻声地说：
There is nothing in the world
“世间再也没有什么
Broader than Mother’s breast!
比祖国的胸脯更宽广！”
