《妈妈》

When I knew you I was ten
当我认识你，我十岁
and you were thirty-five, my round-faced mama
你三十五，你是团团脸的妈妈
your love was like a tub of warm water
你的爱是满满的一盆洗澡水
so warm it almost made me float
暖暖的，几乎把我浮起来
But then
但是有一度
you stopped your love, you
你把慈爱
screwed it tight, perhaps, you thought
关了，又旋紧
the child is grown now, she needs no more love
也许你想，孩子长大了，不必再爱
perhaps it wasn’t a disaster at all
也许，根本没有灾难
perhaps a mother’s unintentional wrong
也许妈妈无心的差错

I was thirty-five

and you had just turned sixty
你刚好六十
once again I see you, my round-faced mama
又看到你，团团脸的妈妈
it seems in life we only show our faces when we meet
好像一世，只是两照面
you are always the giver
你在一端给
and I, the taker
我在一端取
this time you were the spring and I the pond
这回你是流泉，我是池塘
You the spring of tears
你是落泪的流泉
I the tranquil pond
我是幽静的池塘
