《流水线》

On time’s assembly line
在时间的流水线里
night weights down on night
夜晚和夜晚紧紧相挨
we come off the factory assembly line
我们从工厂的流水线撤下
to form yet another line as we trudge home.
又以流水线的队伍回家来
over our heads
在我们头顶
the stars’ assembly line stretches across the sky
星星的流水线拉过天穹
on both sides
在我们身旁
small trees stand dazed in lines.
小树在流水线上发呆
The stars must be tired
星星一定疲倦了
of the same old voyage
几千年过去
after millennia have passed
它们的旅行从不更改
the small trees are stricken
小树都病了
their liens and colors stripped
烟尘和单调使它们
by smog and monotony
失去了线条和色彩
all this I feel
一切我都感觉到了
for the rhythm we share.
凭着一种共同的节拍
But how strange
但是奇怪
what eludes me
我惟独不能感觉到
is the feel of my own being
我自己的存在
perhaps like the trees and the stars
仿佛丛树与星群
out of sheer habit
或者由于习惯
out of sorrow
对自己已成的定局
I am unable to care about my own fate.
