曹丕

秋风萧瑟天气凉，

草木摇落[1]露为霜。

群燕辞归鹄[2]南翔，

念君客游思断肠。

慊慊[3]思归恋故乡，

君何淹留[4]寄他方？

贱妾茕茕[5]守空房。

忧来思君不敢忘，

不觉泪下沾衣裳。

援琴[6]鸣弦发清商[7]，

短歌微吟不能长。

明月皎皎照我床，

星汉西流夜未央[8]。

牵牛织女遥相望，

尔独何辜限河梁。

注释：

[1] 摇落：凋残。

[2] 鹄：天鹅。

[3] 慊慊：心里不满足的样子。

[4] 淹留：久留。

[5] 茕茕：孤独无依的样子。

[6] 援琴：拨琴弄弦。

[7] 清商：乐曲名。清商音节短促。

[8] 夜未央：夜已深而未尽的时候。古人用观察星象的方法测定时间。

Song of a Lonely Wife (I)

Cao Pi[1]

The weather turns cold when bleak blows the autumn breeze;

The leaves shiver and fall into frost dew-drops freeze;

Swallows in group fly south together with wild geese.

I miss you far apart till broken is my heart.

A traveler may roam but he’ll yearn for his home.

Why so long should you stay in a land far away?

I remain sad and lonely in empty chamber only.

Though grieved, I dare not yet my dear lord to forget.

I do not know my gown wet with tears streaming down.

I take my lute and ring its melancholy string.

I sing low a short song. Oh how can it be long?

The bright moon overhead sheds its light on my bed.

The River of Stars peep westward when night is deep.

The Cowherd from afar gazes on Weaving Star.

What is wrong on their part to be kept far apart!
