《起造一座墙》

You and I must never desecrate that word.
你我千万不可亵渎那一个字，
Let us not forget our vow before God.
别忘了在上帝跟前起的誓。
I want your most tender love
我不仅要你最柔软的柔情，
To wrap around my heart like plantain peel
蕉衣似的永远裹着我的心；
And your love as strong as pure steel
我要你的爱有纯钢似的强，
To build a wall in the flux of life.
在这流动的生里起造一座墙；
Let the autumn wind cover the garden with sere leaves,
任凭秋风吹尽满园的黄叶，
Let termites eat away carved pillars a thousand years old.
任凭白蚁蛀烂千年的画壁；
Even if a lightning bolt shattered the universe one day,
就使有一天霹雳震翻了宇宙，
It could not shatter our freedom behind the wall of love.
也震不翻你我“爱墙”内的自由！
