（一）

落日遥岑[1]，

淡烟远浦[2]。

萧寺[3]疏钟，

戍楼暮鼓。

一叶扁舟，

数声去橹。

那惨戚，

那凄楚，

恰待欢娱，

顿成间阻。

注释：

[1]岑：小而高的山。

[2]浦：小河流入江海的入口处。

[3]萧寺：佛寺。梁武帝萧衍造佛寺，命人书曰“萧寺”，后世即用以指代佛寺。

（I）

At sunset stretch out disant hills

And far-flung mist-veiled rills,

But few temple bells ring

With drumbeats watch-towers bring.

A leaflike boat

Rows away and afloat.

How drear and sad

Our parting song!

Our short meeting so glad,

Our separation so long!

（二）紫花儿

瘦岩岩香消玉减，

冷清情夜永更长，

孤零零枕剩衾余。

羞花闭月，

落雁沉鱼。

踌躇，

从今后谁寄萧娘一纸书[1]？

无情无绪，

水淹蓝桥[2]，

梦断华胥[3]。

注释：

[1]萧娘一纸书：唐人杨巨源《崔娘》诗：“风流才子多春思，肠断萧娘一纸书。”这里用典故含蓄地表达了肝肠寸断的相思之情。

[2]水淹蓝桥：传说战国时鲁人尾生与女子约会桥下，女子没来，河水却在上涨，尾生坚守约定留在原处，最后抱着桥柱被水淹死。经过后代演绎，蓝桥成为情人相会之所的代称，水淹蓝桥指夫妻分离或情人不能相见。

[3]华胥：传说上古时皇帝白天睡觉，梦见周游华胥之国，那里没有一切不平等和丑恶，是个完美的理想国。

（II）Tune: Violet Flowers

My slender, slender body wastes away;

The chilly, chilly nights longer stay.

In lonely, lonely bed warmth is worn out.

Will the moon and flowers feel shy at my sight,

And wild geese and fish take flight?

I doubt.

From now on who will send a letter to me?

I fade without glee.

The blue bridge is drowned in the stream

When I awake from my sweet dream.

肺腑，

恨怎舒？

三叠阳关愁万缕，

幽期密约欢爱处，

动离愁暮云无数。

今夜月明何处宿[1]？

依依古岸黄芦。

注释：

[1]今夜月明何处宿：化用柳永《雨霖铃》：“今宵酒醒何处，杨柳岸晓风残月。”

（III）Tune: Song of Flirtation

How to give relief

To my heart-felt grief?

The farewell song with three refrains heard,

My thousand threads of sorrow stirred,

I’m grieved to see countless evening clouds above,

They remind me of where we were happy in love.

Where will you moor your boat in the moonlight?

Are you missing me by the reedy shore tonight?

（四）秃厮儿

欢笑地不堪举目，

回首处景物萧疏。

屋前月下谁共语？

漫嗟吁[1]，

自踌躇

何如？

注释：

[1]嗟吁：叹息。

（IV）Tune: The Bald Head

I dare not raise the eye

To places of delight.

Looking back, I find gloomy our rendezvous.

With whom could I talk in moonlight and starlight?

What can I do

But walk back and forth

And give sigh on sigh?

（五）圣药王

别太速，

情最苦。

松[1]金减玉瘦了身躯。

鬼病添，

神思虚，

心如刀剜泪如珠。

意儿里懒上香车。

注释：

[1]松：松动，减少。

（V）Tune: Sovereign of Medicine

Do not make haste!

The bitterest grief makes my jade-like body waste,

My illness more severe,

My head less clear,

And gnaws my heart till my pearl-like tears fall.

So idle and so drear,

I would not mount my fragrant cab at all.

（六）尾

眼睁睁怎忍分飞去？

痛杀我也吹箫伴侣。

不付能[1]恰住了送行客一帆风。

又添起助离愁半江雨。

注释：

[1]不付能：好不容易。

（VI）Tune: Epilogue

How can I bear with open eyes to see us part?

To leave my flute companion would break my heart.

Hardly have I not heard the wind to say goodbye,

When grievous rain makes half the river run high.
