意思儿真，

心肠儿顺。

只争个口角头不囫囵[1]。

怕人知，

羞人说，

嗔[2]人问。

不见后又嗔，

得见后又忖，

多敢死后肯。

注释：

[1]囫囵：糊涂，不清楚。

[2]嗔：生气。

If our love’s known, I fear;

Gossip makes me feel shy,

Questions make me sigh.

If he’s not seen, I blame he’s late;

When we have met, I hesitate.

Is it true I won’t satisfy him till I die?

我事事村[1]，

他般般丑，

丑则丑村则村意相投。

则为他丑心儿真，

博得我村情儿厚。

似这般丑眷属，

村配偶，

只除天上有。

注释：

[1]村：蠢笨。这里是反语，意为太老实。

Stupid in all am I,

Ugly all in all is he.

Our love is true though stupid and ugly are we.

He wins my love despite his ugliness;

He loves me for my stupidity none the less.

Such a pair of ugly man and stupid wife

Cannot be found in earthly life

But in the paradise on high.
