堂上谋臣帷幄[1]，

边头猛将干戈[2]。

天时地利与人和，

燕可伐欤曰：“可可”。

此日楼台鼎鼐[3]，

他时剑履山河。

都人齐和大风歌[4]，

管领群臣来贺。

[1]帷幄：本指帐幕，这里指谋国之心。

[2]干戈：古代的两种武器，这里比喻战争。

[3]鼎鼐（nài）：古代的烹调用具，古时常用鼎鼐调味来比喻宰相的职责或者指治国。

[4]大风歌：刘邦曾有《大风歌》一诗：“大风起兮云飞扬，威加海内兮归故乡，安得猛士兮守四方。”

Ministers in the court plan the campaign;

Generals spear in hand guard the frontier.

When can we take back the lost Central Plain?

Our men, united, should start now and here.

Holding the premiership today,

You’ll win high honor tomorrow.

The capital retaken, you may sing the lay

Of Big Wind and people will follow.

Liu Guo (1154—1206) was a patriotic poet and a follower of Xin Qiji. This lyric was written for Premier Han who planned a Northern campaign to take back the lost Central Plain and the lost capital. The Song of the Great Wind was a song written by the first Emperor of the Han Dynasty (reigned 206—194 BC), which reads as follows:

The big wind rises and drives clouds away,

I come home now that I hold the world under sway.

Where are my brave men to guard the frontiers today?
