折桂令

乔吉

（一）毗陵晚眺

江南倦客[1]登临。

多少豪雄，

几许消沉。

今日何堪，

买田阳羡[2]，

挂剑长林[3]。

霞缕烂[4]谁家昼锦[5]，

月钩横故国丹心[6]。

窗影灯深，

磷火青青，

山鬼喑喑。

注释：

[1]倦客：指仕宦不如意而隐退的人。

[2]买田阳羡：宋代苏轼曾在《登州谢表》中写道：“止求自便，买田阳羡，誓毕此身。”表达倦于官场沉浮，希望归田隐居的意愿。

[3]挂剑长林：晋代许逊曾为旌阳令，遇到晋室变乱，悟出世事皆虚，于是投身学道，最后修炼成仙。相传建昌县冷水观有一棵古松，曾是许逊遨游挂剑的地方。

[4]霞缕烂：霞光灿烂的早晨。

[5]昼锦：昼锦堂，相传为魏国公韩琦所建，富丽奢华。

[6]故国丹心：指失去了故国，成为前朝的遗民。

（I）Evening View

A tired roamer on southern shore,

I climb up high.

How many heroes sank of yore!

How can I bear to buy

Arable land and field

And hang my sword on the tree not to wield?

Whose house is steeped in brilliant sunset glow?

Whose heart is loyal as the hook-like moon hanging low?

Lamplight deep hidden behind the window screen,

I only see the phosphorus light green,

And hear the scream of ghost unseen.

（二）登毗陵永庆阁

忽飞来南浦[1]娇云，

背影藏羞，

忍笑含颦。

绕鬓兰烟，

沾衣花气，

恼梦梅魂。

似湘水行春洛神[2]，

遇天台采药刘晨[3]。

愁缕成痕，

一枕余香，

半醉黄昏。

注释：

[1]南浦：《楚辞·九歌》：“送美人兮南浦。”

[2]洛神：洛水之神宓妃，曹植有《洛神赋》赞美她。

[3]刘晨：传说他和阮肇在天台山采药时遇见神仙。

（II）On Celebration Tower

Like fleecy cloud flying down from the southern sky,

Her shadow fair reveals she’s shy.

Refraining from smile, she begins to sigh.

Orchid scent around her forehead,

Her dress fragrant with flowers overspread,

The soul of mume blossom disturbs her dream.

She looks like the goddess in love along the stream,

And meets her lover, herb in hand, in fairy land.

A wreath of gloom has left its trace,

The pillow hides her leftover grace.

Half drunk, in twilight she is sunk.

（三）客窗清明

风风雨雨梨花，

窄索帘栊，

巧小窗纱。

甚情绪灯前，

客怀枕畔。

心事天涯！

三千丈清霜鬓发[1]，

五十年春梦繁华[2]。

蓦见人家，

杨柳分烟，

扶上檐牙。

注释：

[1]三千丈清霜鬓发：化用唐代李白《秋浦歌》：“白发三千丈，缘愁似个长。”

[2]春梦繁华：只有在春梦中才出现过繁华的景象。诗人作此曲时，已是民生凋敝，百姓生活惨淡。

（III）Roaming on Mourning Day

Pear blossoms fade in wind and rain.

On narrow window frame I lean

By delicate window screen.

In what mood before lamplight can I remain?

A roamer whose head on the pillow lies,

And whose heart to the end of the earth flies.

My grief as long as an old man’s hair white,

Fifty years have passed like a vernal dream overnight.

Suddenly a house comes to sight,

Where smokelike willow leaves

Adorn the tilting eaves.

（四）荆溪即事

问荆溪[1]溪上人家，

为甚人家

不种梅花？

老树支门，

荒蒲绕岸，

苦竹圈笆。

寺无僧狐狸样[2]瓦。

官无事乌鼠当衙[3]。

白水黄沙，

倚遍阑干，

数尽啼鸦。

注释：

[1]荆溪：在今天的江苏省宜兴市南。

[2]样：应作“漾”，是抛、弄的意思。

[3]官无事乌鼠当衙：官员不理政事，却让乌鼠之辈兴风作浪。乌鼠：指作恶的小吏差役。

（IV）The Riverside Land

I ask people by the riverside why

Mume trees are not

Planted near by.

The trunk of old mume tree is used to support the door,

Wild weeds are overgrown along the shore.

Dreary is the bamboo-fenced cot.

On the roof of the godless temple foxes trot;

Officials doing nothing let rats run in the hall.

Around the yellow sand white water flows.

Leaning on the balustrade, I count all

The crying crows.
