淡月梨花曲槛[1]旁，

清露苍苔罗袜凉。

恨他愁断肠，

为他烧夜香。

注释：

[1]槛：栏杆，围栏。

（I）Yearning in Spring

Under pale moon by pear blossoms on rails I lean,

My silken stockings cold with clear dew on moss green.

Grief-stricken, I am in sad plight,

Still I burn incense for him at night.

（二）小姬

手拈红牙[1]花满头，

爱唱春词不解愁。

一声出画楼，

晓莺无奈羞。

注释：

[1]红牙：红牙板，古时歌姬唱歌时打节拍伴奏的乐器。

（II）A Young Songstress

With flowers over the head and clappers in hand,

Singing spring songs, of grief she does not understand.

From painted bower her song streaks the sky.

How could the morning orioles not feel shy?

（三）金陵道中

瘦马驮诗天一涯，

倦鸟呼愁村数家。

扑头飞柳花，

与人添鬓华[1]。

注释：

[1]鬓华：两鬓的白发。

（III）On My Way to Jinling

I roam on a lean horse laden with verse I write;

Tired birds bewail over desolate villages in sight.

Overhead willow down in flight

Adds to my forehead hair white.
